Sting and Scabbard Part 2

Hello again viewers,

After doing a few more touches here and there and burning some details I became all the more pleased with both the sword and the scabbard. The previous Sting I made was about 24 inches but this one is about 30 inches. So the first one is more of Hobbit proportions and this one is how big it would be to us humans. This is the first sword I made with my new method but you can be sure it won't be the last.

Enjoy the pictures below and as always have a GO!

 I penciled the details

Then wood burnt them

As you can see I managed to find a small
piece of wood to cover the crack

Even I am still amazed and
it's still far from finished

Varnishing them both with yacht varnish

Here's after I stained the sword and scabbard

Staining the hilt was pretty difficult and
it really didn't help with hiccups

I even added a belt loop on the back

Sting and Scabbard Part 1

My fellow manly carpenters and folk of the such like trades,

As you all may know I have previously made a ''Sting'' (see previous posts "The Hobbit - Sting" and "The Hobbit - The Making of Sting") but I wanted to make another one and this time with a scabbard. It took me a while to figure out the best way to do it but I finally found a way. It sure wasn't the easiest project I've done, however I'm always up for a challenge.

Enjoy the pictures below and part two is coming.

Here we go again

Jigsawing the blade

The whole sword was made
from only these three parts

Gluing all peices together

Well, that's the sword finished for now

Now onto the scabbard

Useing only a hammer and a chisle I managed
to carve out the shape I needed

Umm, well, yeah, I accidently chisled a bit too far and
made a little crack but I soon found a way to fix it

I was really pleased with the outcome of the shape

Gluing another peice of wood to finish off the scabbard (for now)

Gladiator Sword: Reconstruction

Greetings Roman Citizens,

As long as I can remember I've always had a great interest and fascination in Roman history. It was quite a while ago now that I managed to purchase one of my most favourite swords, a Roman Spatha. Ever since owning it I always knew the handle was a little weak but it was just recently that it decided to fall apart. So you can all guess what I was about to do next. That's right! I was going to make new one. With only a couple of tools and a lot of patience I managed to do it. It didn't take that long to make but it was quite difficult. After I had finish it I named it ''Aquila'' which is Latin for ''Eagle''.

Enjoy the pictures below and GAUDETE (farewell)!

My Gladiator sword

I cut out pieces roughly the same size for each part
and then got to work on shaping them

I drilled a hole in each piece to assemble them

I wood burned a few details on the grip

Then stained the gaurd and pomel
and glued them together
I repainted some of the gold pieces and
used them on my new sword

I'm really happy with the outcome but I just
hope none of my other swords fall apart

Lego Robots

Phantom Victor and Turbo Fury

Greetings master builders,

While staying at the Glacier Bible Camp in Montana I had a crazy idea to make some Lego robots. The family who owned the Camp had a large amount of Lego so as with most things I thought why not. I got the idea from the Jaeger robots from the movie ''Pacific Rim''. They took a while to make but were suprisingly easy and I was very pleased with the outcome.

So give it a go and bye for now.
ZAC

EPIC!!!!

I also made it so the head and waist could spin

Woodwork Away!

Howdy Folks!

Wooden houses I made for families.
You may not have heard from me in a while and that's because I've been away for three months touring The United States and Canada. Below are pictures of woodwork I was able to do while I was over there. Enjoy and click on the to link see more of the trip.
